Carina Wong currently develops investment strategies and manages a portfolio at the world’s largest philanthropic organization. Her portfolio at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation includes investments that seek to dramatically accelerate student success and improve the quality of teaching and learning in public schools today.
Carina has worked in education in a variety of roles at the national, state, and local levels for over twenty years. She served as the Director of the Assessment and Accountability for the Pennsylvania Department of Education at a very challenging time during the No Child Left Behind reforms. She worked in the Philadelphia School District during the Annenberg Challenge, as well as has dedicated her career to improving school lunches and creating edible schoolyards nationally as the Executive Director of the Chez Panisse Foundation in Berkeley, CA. Carina served as a US Peace Corps Volunteer in South Africa and trained Peace Corps Volunteers in Botswana.
She is a mother of three young children and is currently a Deputy Director on the College Ready team at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
