Le succès du Global Teacher Prize a inspiré des pays du monde entier à créer leurs propres prix pour trouver et honorer leurs meilleurs professeurs.
Aujourd'hui, il y a plus de 40 prix nationaux d'enseignants dans des pays du monde entier, de l'Amérique latine à l'Europe, au Moyen-Orient, en Afrique et en Asie. Ce nombre augmente rapidement: 17 États ont établi des prix nationaux pour les enseignants en 2017 seulement.
La Varkey Foundation s'associe aux organisateurs des Prix nationaux des enseignants et offre des conseils d'experts sur les processus de demande et de nomination, ainsi que sur les critères d'évaluation. La fondation fait également la promotion des prix nationaux des enseignants à travers le monde.
