Kim Jayde

Kim Jayde (Kimberley Jayde Robinson) one of six children; was born in Harare, Zimbabwe and then moved to Bulawayo, Zimbabwe where she was raised for the earlier parts of her life. KIM JAYDE completed high school in 2008, after which she relocated to South Africa in 2009 to pursue her tertiary education where she attained an Honours Degree in Social Work at the University of Stellenbosch in the Western Cape.

In her second year of studying she took a chance at modelling, after her cousin who had been in the modelling industry for over 10 years persuaded her to join her agency. Kim took up modelling as a part-time job while she completed her honours degree and working in government hospitals, old age homes and being a high school counsellor. The value of getting an education was always stressed by her parents, and it was only after graduating from varsity in 2013 and making a move to Cape-Town that she began to pursue modelling on a full-time basis.

Fashion has always been one of Kim’s key interests and after numerous requests from her Instagram followers on where she got her clothing from, she decided to take it one step further and use it as a platform to collaborate with industry friends she had met over her modelling years such as photographers, local designers
and make-up artists and this is how Kim Jayde was created. With the growth of her fashion blog, she then added travel after being approached by SANParks to travel around the country, write & vlog about her experience and because the opportunity still incorporated the fashion elements in her social media posts, this made the perfect match.

In 2016, Kim was approached by Spice TV to cover red carpet and backstage interviews at S.A. Menswear Week. She was a natural and was invited to cover a few fashion weeks after that, this is when the presenter bug bit and she was hooked. She wanted to learn more about this new exciting world that she was introduced to, a new challenge and opportunity to learn, grow and would allowed her to show her personality. It was in December 2016 that she left everything she knew in Cape-Town and moved to the concreate jungle, Johannesburg with no job or plan, to chase this new-found dream. Kim went to multiple auditions before MTV Base South Africa’s Talent manager (at the time) found her on Instagram and invited her in for a screening, less than a week later she was offered the job as one of their NewsISH presenters which airs on DSTV channel 322 every day at 17:00.

Jayde’s career can be seen as an ‘overnight success’, but she ensures that she gives 110% to everything she gets involved in.
On the 19th March 2018, the Revlon SA Live Boldly Campaign was launched in South Africa. Kim Jayde was named as one of the four newest faces of the Revlon Live Boldly Brigade. This new campaign represents feminine power, optimism, strength and a sense of style. The epitome of diverse beauty, street smart and catwalk style.
Kim Jayde was nominated for the ‘Media Personality of The Year’ award at the 2018 Zimbabwe Achievers Awards. The votes were open to the public, and for the first time since the awards inception, she alongside multi-award winning journalist and presenter Ancillar Mangena were announced as the winners at the Hilton Hotel, Sandton on Saturday, 07 April 2018.

Kim has since been listed as one of the ‘40 Under 30 class of Emerging Zimbabwe Leaders’ by Gumiguru.

It is such an honour to join the academy because with so many things in this world being so uncertain, and so many traditional jobs dying out, we need to now more than ever celebrate the men and women responsible for shaping the minds of our future generations.
