Who will be crowned the winner of the Global Teacher Prize 2020?
We are very excited that the winner of the Global Teacher Prize 2020 will be announced for the first time in a virtual ceremony accessible to everyone around the world. Hosted by UK actor, comedian and writer Stephen Fry, the ceremony will take place at London’s iconic Natural History Museum.
Tune in at 11am GMT on 3rd December to see which one of our phenomenal Top 10 educators will be awarded the sixth annual Prize, and win US $1million. The ceremony will also include special recognition for one teacher – a COVID hero – who has gone above and beyond to keep young people learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Global Teacher Prize will be awarded to an exceptional teacher who has made an outstanding contribution to the profession. Over the last few months, in a world turned upside down, we’ve been daily reminded how much we rely on the world's teachers. Now, more than ever, we must shine a light on their profession.
Our Top 10 Finalists were chosen from our Top 50 outstanding Finalists for the 2020 Global Teacher Prize. Our Top 50 come from all corners of the globe. From teaching in remote towns and villages to inner-city schools, they advocate for inclusivity and for child rights, integrate migrants into classrooms, and nurture their students’ abilities and confidence. They are all champions for change and are inspiring their students and communities around them, please join us in congratulating them and acknowledging the amazing work they do!
