Nominate a Teacher for the Global Teacher Prize

Do you know a teacher worthy of recognition and celebration?

Help us find an exceptional educator who deserves to be recognized around the world.

The Global Teacher Prize is an annual one million dollar award from the Varkey Foundation to be given to a super-special teacher. One innovative and caring teacher who has made an inspirational impact on their students and their community will receive the reward of a lifetime.

What did the best teacher you ever had give you that no one else could? If you could say one thing to your favorite teacher from school days, what would it be? Teachers deserve recognition for the magic they create every day. Now you can nominate the teacher who helped open your eyes or has lit your child’s imagination.

Why nominate a teacher for the Global Teacher Prize?

  • National and international recognition of their achievements – Special Commendations for Top 50 outstanding applicants
  • Invitation to the Global Education and Skills Forum 2017 in Dubai for Top 10 Finalists
  • Potential to win the Global Teacher Prize and receive a Prize of US$1 million

First Step: Anyone can nominate a teacher who meets the criteria and is currently teaching children between the age of 5 and 18. Please tell the teacher you have nominated that they need to apply for this award.

Second Step: The nominated teacher then needs to fill out his/her own information in the application form. The closing date for applications is 14 October 2016.

The Global Teacher Prize Judging Academy will choose the winner in January 2017 and the public announcement will take place at the Global Education and Skills Forum in Dubai, March 2017.
