After her successful debut performance in Slumdog Millionaire along with all the accolades and awards that the film earned including eight Academy Awards, Freida bagged numerous international films – Woody Allen’s You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger, Julian Schnabel’s Miral, Tarsem Singh’s Immortals , Rupert Wyatt’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Jean-Jacques Annaud’s Day of the Falcon, Michael Winterbottom’s Trishna, Richard Raymond’s Desert Dancer and Terrence Malick’s Knight of Cups. She has also just completed Andy Serkis’ Jungle Book, released the documentary “Wonders Of India” with BBC Natural History that features the treasures of India in the natural history world, and is set to star in Tabrez Noorani’s Love Sonia about a young Indian village girl whose life irrevocably changes when she is entrapped into the vicious global sex trade network. In addition, Freida joined the philanthropic force in early 2012 focusing on the causes of girls throughout India and all over the world. She traveled to Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, Philippines and India with Plan International to learn about their various programs under the Because I Am A Girl Initiative. In 2013, she joined the Girl Rising Campaign as their Global Ambassador and later became the producer of the India campaign. Girl Rising India is in advanced talks with the Ministry of Women and Child Development to become partners and allies of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign. With the Girl Rising India campaign, her work with Plan International and recently her engagement with Global Citizen, she has further solidified her commitment to improving the future of women and ending gender discrimination and through that Global Poverty. Freida is also an emerging independent producer, she is currently producing independent projects under her production company Freebird Films.
